Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Coordinator

Position Summary:

The ISET (Indigenous Skills and Employment Training) Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting Indigenous women in all their gender diversity (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities.

This position delivers services to off-reserve Indigenous individuals by overseeing the full lifecycle of client participation in the ISET program. Duties include processing funding applications, determining client eligibility, monitoring progress, building partnerships, ensuring accurate records, promoting the program regionally, and ensuring compliance with reporting standards.

The ISET Coordinator will report to the Esquao( IAAW)Employment Program Supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in social services, education, business administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in case management, employment services, or training programs.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous employment initiatives (e.g., ISET) strongly preferred.
  • Strong documentation skills; proficiency with databases such as ARMs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a client-focused, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) or Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) required.

 

Requirements:

Citizenship: Canadian citizen or permanent resident (eligible to work in Canada)

Language: Fluency in English is essential. Bilingualism in an Indigenous language is a strong asset.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and commitment to the principles and values that guide the work of Esquao, the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women.
  • Understanding of issues related to enhancing the lives of Indigenous women and their families.
  • Solid understanding of Gender Based Analysis and approaches to programming.
  • Superior communication skills, interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, liaison, and networking expertise.
  • Direct experience in project coordination, policy and work plan development, and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative manner with strong organizational skills.
  • Complete understanding of dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Expertise in working in a high pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change in tasks and priorities as needed.
  • Full comprehension, knowledge and experience with all computer software including Microsoft suite of tools and internet techniques.
