Director of Programs
Position Summary:
The Director of Programs is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs within Esquao, ensuring they align with the mission and goals, manage budgets, lead program staff, and represent the organization to external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement strategic plans for all programs, aligning them with the organization’s mission and objectives.
Program Development:
Design, structure, and launch new programs, including identifying needs, developing curriculum, and establishing operational procedures.
Program Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of all programs, ensuring smooth delivery, quality standards, and compliance with regulations.
Budget Management:
Create and manage program budgets, allocating resources effectively and monitoring expenditures.
Staff Leadership:
Hire, train, and supervise program staff, providing ongoing coaching and performance evaluations using Esquao Core Competencies.
Performance Evaluation:
Implement comprehensive program evaluation systems to measure impact, identify areas for improvement, and report results to community and stakeholders.
Fundraising and Grant Writing:
Identify potential funding sources and develop ideas for grant proposals.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare regular reports on program progress, data collected, and impact to the CEO and board of directors.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Deep understanding of non-profit operations and program management principles
- Extensive experience with delivering supportive programs for Indigenous women & their families
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities to assess program effectiveness
- Project management skills to execute complex programs on time and within budget
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public policy, non-profit management, or a related field
- Relevant experience in program development and implementation within a non-profit setting
- Kind and compassionate to co-workers
Esquao, the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women is a provincial non-profit society in its 30th year of operations. Esquao, IAAW serves to amplify the voices of Indigenous women on the issues and challenges they face and are at the forefront of breaking down attitudinal barriers — as leaders and advocates, experienced in taking on larger issues, shaping policy, and collaborating with our partners.
Esquao, IAAW is equally connected to our traditions and committed to providing programs and developing opportunities for the women we serve. Core principles of advancing Indigenous women, apply to staff as well, through internal/external training and promotion. This is a new position for a middle manager open to all genders or nationalities.
Esquao offers a comprehensive benefit package including a 4 day work week. This is a senior position with competitive salary, working in our west Edmonton office. Posting will be up until a suitable candidate is found.
