IAAW offers several youth leadership development projects to build skills and confidence in young women aged 13-17 years old.

School Programming

Esquao Youth Leadership in and after-school programming is focused on:

  • Personal Safety activities
  • Presentation by community leaders
  • Connection to community resources
  • Providing opportunities for community involvement
  • Personal Skills Development

Esquao Youth Leadership Personal Skills Development activities include:

  • Public Speaking workshop[s
  • Current events and community issues discussions
  • Healthy relationships discussions and presentations

Leadership and Safety Summer Camp

Esquao Youth Leadership Summer Camp is a four-day opportunity for young women offered annually:

  • Offers youth the opportunity to engage with community elders
  • Personal Safety and self defense workshops
  • Opportunities for cultural learnings and engagement

Group Home/Youth Group Outreach

  • Presentations and workshops on Personal Safety
  • Presentations and workshops on Personal Skills Development
  • Outreach activities planned collaboratively with community to support youth

How Can You Help?

IAAW is looking for community partners to help support our youth. Whether it is sponsoring meals at some of our events, the space we use for programming, or offering ongoing support for a particular project, every little bit counts towards supporting our Esquao Youth.
